The Regional Maintenance Trainer's responsibility is to help develop and implement company approved training content for heavy duty equipment technicians within their region. Working as part of a team to develop strategies to identify training needs. Prepare comprehensive training material for maintenance and repair procedures on over the road tractors, trailers, converter dollies, terminal tractors, forklifts, and dock equipment. Support service centers and maintenance management by coordinating and conducting training programs to advance the knowledge and skillset of the company’s maintenance team. Provide service as a technical subject matter expert to help our internal maintenance customers succeed both individually and professionally.
Responsibilities
Provide regional technical support and training for over 45 tractor/trailer maintenance facility locations.
Instruct training courses for automotive maintenance technicians, covering company approved maintenance, repair, and diagnostic processes and procedures.
Coordinate and administer internal and vendor training events for assigned region.
Coordinate training dates, times, and travel arrangements with regional maintenance facilities.
Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are present at all assigned training locations
Manage regional training costs and expense
Audit training records and update company training records for assigned region
Develop, update, and maintain training courses, guides, and content in accordance with company policy, manufacturer guidance, and industry recommended practices.
Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for technical guidance and resources, acting as a liaison between maintenance facility personnel and equipment manufacturers
Assist with any duties assigned or needed by the Director of Maintenance, Vice-President of Maintenance, or Asset & Training Manager when necessary.
Requirements
Applied knowledge of heavy duty tractor/trailer mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and cutting/welding systems
Familiarity with FMCSA, DOT, CVSA, OSHA, EPA, CARB, TMC regulations and guidelines
Technical/Mechanical experience with heavy duty powertrain and chassis platforms form major manufacturers including Daimler Freightliner, PACCAR Kenworth, Volvo, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Navistar International, among others.
Technical/Mechanical experience with heavy duty trailer platforms from major manufacturers including Wabash, Great Dane, Stoughton, among others.
Technical/Mechanical experience with forklift platforms from major manufacturers including Toyota, Mitsubishi, Yale/Hyster among others.
Comfortable speaking and presenting technical concepts to a group in a classroom as well as virtual environment.
Proficient use of technology, including PC’s, Tablets, Vehicle ECU’s, Navigate technical diagnostic software, and Technical Literature
Experience in curriculum development and technical writing
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Working knowledge of business applications – SAP, AS400, Concur
Working knowledge of business enterprise solutions – Microsoft Cloud, Sharepoint, WorkDay Learning Management System, content, SCORM package development
