We are looking for an experienced accountant or bookkeeper to reconcile our financial accounts in Xero and ensure that our records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
Scope of Work
The selected freelancer will:
-Reconcile bank and credit card accounts in Xero
-Reconcile payment-processing clearing accounts used for customer payments
-Reconcile payroll clearing accounts
-Match gross payments, processing fees, refunds, chargebacks, and net bank deposits
-Match payroll withdrawals to payroll expenses, liabilities, and employee payments
-Identify transactions that are missing, duplicated, delayed, or posted to the wrong account
-Review and properly categorize transactions
-Investigate and resolve discrepancies between Xero, bank statements, payment processor reports, and payroll reports
-Match payments, deposits, invoices, bills, and payroll entries where applicable
-Review outstanding or unreconciled transactions
-Correct prior bookkeeping errors when appropriate
-Provide a summary of any unresolved issues or information needed from us
-Confirm that reconciled account and clearing-account balances are accurate and supported
The clearing accounts should be reviewed carefully so that balances do not accumulate without explanation. The accountant should be able to trace transactions from the original payment or payroll activity through the clearing account and into the final bank account or expense account.
